The Château la Sauvageonne is a legendary winemaking estate, where optimal sun exposure, perfect location and an exceptional terroir are combined to produce wines of distinctive character. This Grand Vin is the fruit of the union between an extraordinary terroir, an original selection of grape varieties and the superior skill of our winemakers. The Terrasses du Larzac appellation is located in the northern reaches of the Hérault département, a region known for its substantial temperature variations: the distance from the sea and proximity of the Causse provide a touch of freshness on summer nights, allowing the grapes to mature slowly and gradually, developing a rich, deep colour
Winegrower's note
The harvest dates are determined on the basis of regular ripeness tests, with analysis of the polyphenol content of the grape skins and daily tasting of the fruit as the maturing process advances. All of the grapes are harvested by hand, placed in special bins and transferred to the winery, where they undergo rigorous sorting. Each variety and each individual plot of vines is dealt with separately. The maceration time is around 20 to 25 days. At the end of winter, the wines are transferred to new 225l barrels for a stay of between 12 and 16 months.
Tasting notes
Intense, ruby robe with flashes of tile-red. Prominent echoes of the scrubland in the nose, with jammy fruit and lively spice. Subtle hints of dark fruit and gingerbread. Elegant and refined tannins frame the palate, with great balance and vivacity.
Food and Wine Pairing
A perfect match for grilled Aubrac steaks, Larzac cheeses and other classics of southern French cuisine.
We found our new favorite poolside sip! La Grande Bleue Méditerranée, an organic wine made with 5 artfully blended grapes, takes us back to this past summer's adventure in Languedoc, France. The crisp taste is perfect to enjoy on what has been an exceptionally hot summer in both Southern California and Southern France! Thank heavens for La Grande Bleue!!
Our family has a tradition of "Laundry Room wine". It is wine of a high caliber that we hide in the laundry room and only tell a select few about. Those who have a discerning appreciation for tasty wines! Blanc Gris quickly became a "laundry room wine' after my husband and I discovered it on our recent vacation to the Languedoc region of France. I brought it to share with my daughter and sister-in-law who greatly appreciated this addition to our Laundry Room Wine List
I love this sparkling wine! I first tasted it on a Carnival Cruise and I have been in love ever since. I do not drink any other alcoholic beverage. I ordered three bottles and will be ordering three more! Order yours today!!! You will not be disapointed!!
I ordered this at a restaurant last summer and finally ordered a few because I couldn't stop thinking about how much I enjoyed it. It Came packaged beautifully!
The wine was smooth yet complex and very satisfying to keep in the mouth for a few swirls. Delightful to know that Gérard Bertrand’s growing methods are sustainable and mindful of taking care of the land.
I am beyond pleased with the wonderful product and amazing service. Shipping was so fast and packaging was strong and secure. So thankful that they shipped my order via UPS. I love the wine. I can’t find this wine in a small town I live close to. Will definitely buy from this company for sure. Highly recommend!
Thank you
I didn’t get what I ordered, I got a sparkling wine instead and I sent an email explaining that and I haven’t received an answer. I want the wine I ordered please.
I can not find this wine locally, but the nearest Costco carries it around Christmas. I think it is the perfect summer wine. It is light and not very sweet; and the bottle is exquisite. I will order again before the summer is over, I am sure.
My Sister-in-law’s favorite wine! Nice and crisp - not too sweet. Shipping was a bit slow but worth it. If sending as a gift be sure to allow enough shipping time.
My husband and I had this particular bottle of wine on a recent cruise we were on. It was one of the wines offered during a wine tasting we did. We loved the wine and wanted to try it again once we got home. We are looking forward to having it again.
The one negative was in the packaging of the wine and shipment. I’m very surprised the wine arrived without the bottle breaking. I’ve never seen something breakable, and liquid packaged so badly. There was no bubble wrap. Only a few pieces of cardboard providing any cushion at all, and that’s a stretch to say it was cushioned. The box it was shipped in was pieced together. Overall I was extremely disappointed in how the wine was shipped. As much as we love the wine, and would potentially want to buy from you again, I would be very concerned that the next time the bottle wouldn’t arrive without breaking if the same lack of care was given to the next shipment.
I am a dipping my toe back into red wines so take this under consideration. I first started trying a Bertrand upon discovering Moulin a Vent Petit Bois which I very much liked. This led me to try another Bertrand wine, which is the one I purchased. I love it. At first aroma, I smell pepper, first taste fresh picked cherries and plums with a hint of Sarawak pepper, then coriandre, and turmeric. The way I cook I could easily pair this with a lighter meat and spice forward dish. So happy to discover another delicious Bertrand wine.
This was not the greatest - we have a recurring order - the combination of the holidays and the weather made for a delay in delivery - including expecting two cases at the same time and o ly getting them one at a time
